Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that it is in the public interest to do so, on the recommendation of the Treasury Board and of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, pursuant to subsection 23(2.1)Footnote a of the Financial Administration Act, hereby makes the annexed Remission Order Concerning Certain Passport Services Fees and Consular Services Fees.

Remission — Extension of Passport
1 Remission is hereby granted of the fee — paid or payable — set out in item 14 of the schedule to the Passport Services Fees Regulations, and, if the fee has not been paid, any interest payable on that fee, to every person who requested the extension of a passport that was issued for a limited validity period for the reason that
(a) the person was unable to obtain a certificate of citizenship due to production problems that occurred at the Department of Citizenship and Immigration during the period beginning on March 27, 2002 and ending on May 6, 2002; or
(b) the person was unable to obtain a birth certificate due to a labour dispute that occurred in the public service of the Province of Ontario during the period beginning on March 13, 2002 and ending on May 5, 2002.
Remission — Service Refused
2 Remission is hereby granted of the fees — paid or payable — set out in items 1 to 6 and 8 to 13 of the schedule to the Passport Services Fees Regulations and in section 4 of the Consular Services Fees Regulations, and, if the fees have not been paid any interest payable on those fees, to every person who, at any time before June 24, 2002, requested a service listed in any of those items or in that section and whose request was refused by the Passport Office.
