Merchant Seamen Compensation Act

Marginal note:Medical examination

  •  (1) A seaman who claims compensation, or to whom compensation is payable under this Act, shall, if so required by his employer, submit himself for examination by a duly qualified medical practitioner provided by the employer and shall, if so required by the Board, submit himself for examination by a medical referee.

  • Marginal note:In accordance with Act

    (2) A seaman is not required at the request of his employer to submit himself for examination otherwise than in accordance with this Act.

  • Marginal note:Costs paid by employer

    (3) The cost of any examination made pursuant to subsection (1) and the cost of any reference under section 28 shall be paid by the employer.
