Each side of the square frame has a length of 80 cm and each corner post has a diameter of 16 mm. A carbonated beverage glass container is placed upright in the middle of the apparatus and against two support points. The two support points are situated on the side of the container opposite the drill probe and 17 mm to either side of the vertical centreline of the container. The glass drill is positioned in front of the container and perpendicular to its side. The top and each side of the test apparatus are covered in plastic sheets. The drill is moved at a fixed speed towards the container until it pierces the container.</AlternateText><Caption lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831218" lims:id="831218" justification="left" position="over">Figure — Test Apparatus</Caption><Image source="SOR-2016-166img\SOR-2016-166_e001.jpg" /></ImageGroup></Schedule><Schedule lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:lastAmendedDate="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831219" lims:id="831219" bilingual="no" spanlanguages="no"><ScheduleFormHeading lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831220" lims:id="831220"><Label>SCHEDULE 2</Label><OriginatingRef>(Section 3)</OriginatingRef><TitleText>Drop Test — Distance of Projection</TitleText></ScheduleFormHeading><RegulationPiece lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831221" lims:id="831221"><Section lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:lastAmendedDate="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831222" lims:id="831222"><Label>1</Label><Text>The following method is to be used to test the distance of projection of a carbonated beverage glass container that has shattered:</Text><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831223" lims:id="831223"><Label>(a)</Label><Text>as illustrated in the figure of the test apparatus, provide</Text><Subparagraph lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831224" lims:id="831224"><Label>(i)</Label><Text>a block of concrete, 50 cm long, 40 cm wide and 20 cm high, having a smooth, flat and horizontal impact surface, positioned on a flat and horizontal concrete base,</Text></Subparagraph><Subparagraph lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831225" lims:id="831225"><Label>(ii)</Label><Text>a rigid cylinder, with an inside diameter of 2 m and a height of 20 cm, placed vertically on the concrete base so that it is concentric with the concrete block, and the upper edge of the cylinder is in the plane of the impact surface, and</Text></Subparagraph><Subparagraph lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831226" lims:id="831226"><Label>(iii)</Label><Text>a drop mechanism, consisting of two horizontal support bars of 6 mm diameter with their centrelines 4 cm apart positioned symmetrically over the longitudinal centreline of the impact surface and with their upper edges 75 cm above the impact surface, capable of permitting a free fall of the container from its horizontal support position by a snap action withdrawal of the two support bars in symmetrical paths downward and away from the container while maintaining the bar centrelines horizontal;</Text></Subparagraph></Paragraph><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831227" lims:id="831227"><Label>(b)</Label><Text>remove from the container any packaging and label that does not remain on it after its sale and during its use;</Text></Paragraph><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831228" lims:id="831228"><Label>(c)</Label><Text>ensure that the unopened container is equilibrated to a test temperature by storing it in a water bath at 25°C for four hours and is equilibrated as to pressure at that temperature by ultrasonic agitation immediately before the test;</Text></Paragraph><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831229" lims:id="831229"><Label>(d)</Label><Text>clear and clean the area inside and outside the cylinder;</Text></Paragraph><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831230" lims:id="831230"><Label>(e)</Label><Text>place the container horizontal and unopened, centred between and on the support bars, with the vertical plane through the mid-height of the container passing through the transverse centreline of the impact surface;</Text></Paragraph><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831231" lims:id="831231"><Label>(f)</Label><Text>activate the drop mechanism allowing the container to fall freely on the impact surface;</Text></Paragraph><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831232" lims:id="831232"><Label>(g)</Label><Text>if the container shatters,</Text><Subparagraph lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831233" lims:id="831233"><Label>(i)</Label><Text>collect, clean, dry and weigh all pieces and parts of the container, including the top and label, that have travelled beyond the outside diameter of the cylinder, and</Text></Subparagraph><Subparagraph lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831234" lims:id="831234"><Label>(ii)</Label><Text>collect, clean, dry and weigh all pieces and parts of the container, including the top and label, that have remained within the inside diameter of the cylinder;
