Order Respecting Australia and New Zealand Rates of Customs Duty

Whereas certain concessions relating to Canadian goods have been granted to Canada by Australia and New Zealand;

Therefore, His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Finance, pursuant to section 12.1Footnote * and subsection 62(1)Footnote ** of the Customs TariffFootnote ***, is pleased hereby to make the annexed Order respecting Australia and New Zealand rates of customs duty.

Short Title

 This Order may be cited as the Australia and New Zealand Tariff Preference Maintenance Order.

Extension of Benefits

 For each tariff item No. or Code set out in column I of Parts I to III of the schedule, the rates of customs duty set out in column II of that tariff item No. or Code are extended to the goods of that tariff item No. or Code imported from Australia or New Zealand on and after the dates set out in column II of that tariff item No. or Code.

Customs Tariff Amendments

 Schedule I to the Customs Tariff is amended by adding, for each tariff item No. set out in column I of Part I of the schedule, under the heading “Most-Favoured-Nation Tariff”, the rates of customs duty set out in column II of that tariff item No.

 Schedule I to the Customs Tariff is amended by replacing, for each tariff item No. set out in column I of Part II of the schedule, the rate of customs duty in respect of Australia or New Zealand, as the case may be, set out under the heading “Most-Favoured-Nation Tariff” with the rates of customs duty set out in column II of that tariff item No.

 Schedule II to the Customs Tariff is amended by adding, after the British Preferential Tariff rates of duty under the heading “Most-Favoured-Nation Tariff”, for each Code set out in column I of Part III of the schedule, the rates of customs duty set out in column II of that Code.
